In the photo below, a photographer has captured the creepy element with a subject who appears to be a doll like puppet with a distant look. This image also holds a creepy atmosphere because oh the contrast with the subject and the wallpaper in the background. The wallpaper is coloured flowers which would be seen as sweet and innocent for a child's bedroom, yet this subject looks quite eerie. Not to mention the puppet she is holding add to the creepiness as it forms questioning of what is the puppet looking at and what is the subject looking at?
This is my photo I shoot. I positioned my camera so it wasn't completely head on and my subject wasn't looking directly into the camera. I found this worked better in creating a eerie atmosphere. Additionally, my subject looks quite dark. I wanted her to form a doll like look because I thought this was different in comparison of my other shoots. Also many people find dolls creepy so I wanted to add this into my work.
This two images connect because they both use humans as a way to show creepiness in an artificial way, being dolls. The subjects are both looking past the camera so we are unaware of what is behind the camera. Both images also have a dollhouse feel with the background. The images also have a contrast between the background and the subjects, forming a creepier feel for the total image.
