Shoot 10- Creepy Work Record

Date- Monday 4th April 2016.

Aim-
After my shoot 7 came out quite well, I want to use the innocence of the room around my subject to show a contrast between my subject- who will hopefully be covered in makeup and the background.

These are three examples of my work which I think worked really well. The first image; I wanted to show this image unedited in comparison with the other two. I like the first one, I used the metal frame of my friends bed to form this almost barrier effect. I used artificial light here and turned off the house lights, the reason for this was to form that shadow across the back wall because I believe this adds to the creepy feel.I like the second one because it very forms the creepy atmosphere which I were going for- her face isn't clear. It also looks as if its character of a horror film which is going to jump out at you. The third image here is one of my favourite from this shoot because I like the innocence from the prop of the teddy, but then when you move your gaze to her face, you are joined with this creepy face.

These are examples of my work that I don't like. The reason for me not liking the first one is because I don't think it's creepy, I think it's more of a trapped atmosphere- as it's not my giving atmosphere which I wanted to achieve, I don't like it. Additionally, the lighting of this image doesn't go alongside my other photos- it's odd, therefore I do not like it. I don't like the second one ether because my subject looks like she is going to fall.

What am I doing next?
As I have finished all my ten shoots my next step is the exam. I hope to use my creepy shoots and the depression ones.

Shoot 9- Depression Work Record

Date-  Monday 4th April 2016.

Aim-
For This shoot I intend to form the mood depression. I will do this through the importance of my editing. I aim for my photos for create the depression atmosphere but also holding the feminine aspect to it. This is my aim for this shoot because I hope to show how even though stereotypically it is females who suffer with depression and my subject is female, I still want to show how beauty can still be seen, even through the ugliness of depression.

These are 3 examples of my work which I believe went really well. This is because even though you can see how she is upset, the first and the last image still holds a strong aspect of it- she still appears to be powerful even through the depression. This was holds my aim because I supports how people can still appear strong but be depressed- I just put the two together. Normally, people just show the strong with other people and show the pain when they are alone. The first time I shot depression, I wrote on my mirror and took a photo of myself in a frame of words, although I wanted to shoot a different subject in the frame. My friend has a really nice vanity mirror which I wanted to use. This is because it shows the pain on the mirror through the words she is looking at. There is also another reflection on the other door of the mirror- showing her makeup through her crying. Although the way I positioned her shows her power. She is sat with her arms up, although she isn't leaning on them, she is looking down at the words- she is better than them.

These are three photos which I do not think went very well. The first image I intended for my subject to appear upset when looking in a circular mirror- My reason behind this was symbolic, her pain always goes in a circle, one day she may feel good but it will always good downhill and she will feel worse later on, her days follow this circle. With this concept in mind I wanted to place her in the middle of this- with her pain framing her. Although it didn't work as well as I had hoped and it turned out like this. Also, my subject thought I had already taken the image, thus making her pull this face, but it ended up with me taking it here. The second image; I intended to have a frame of her happy face held over her sad face- I was inspired by a photographer who used Polaroid images to do this, although I didn't have access to this so I used my phone. But this didn't work very well because it was all off, thus making me create this image through editing. My edited image turned out much better than this one and can be seen on my straight images for this shoot. The third image here was made to show the bullying aspect of depression, although I weren't able to capture her face and the phone at the same time which I believe takes away half of the mood.

What I am going to next;
As I only have one shoot less and I hope this to be a creepy shot, I intend to use this shoot to help me plan my exam shoot. I will hopefully bond the two factors of power and depression to form similar images. I also hope to shoot this around the same time because I believe the use of the room light, forming that orangey tone to it adds to the depression mood because it looks more realistic in comparison to a studio lighting.

Shoot 8- Creepy Work Record

Date- Thursday 31st March 2016.

Aim
After my success of shooting the atmosphere of Creepy outside in my "Shoot 6" blog post, I want to continue of the theme and take photos outside again, yet this time at night, this is because this will make use of natural lighting of the night darkness. I also aim to shoot the creepy atmosphere without the aspect of makeup to experiment if I create the theme without it on my subjects face and just focus on the lighting factor instead to build up that atmosphere.

This is a photo from todays shoot that I like because it shows the lighting aspect of it really well. You can't actually see my subjects face, just her silhouette. I think the timing of this image was also really important, I positioned my subject to the right a little bit so cars coming up the road would be seen (they always come up with road so this part wasn't that hard). The reason this was an important factor for my aim for this image was because it helps frame my subject better- giving a background light. Additionally, as I didn't want to focus on her makeup, I made my creepy aspect on her whole body here. Factors such as her shadow from the street light above her is also a factor I intended for because I believe this forms an eerie atmosphere because its not really a human shape- due to the angle of the light.

On my shoot 3 blog post, I show my creepy atmosphere through showing her moving on a swing. I wanted to create this image again however, I wanted her whole body in. I believe this movement factor helps build my creepy factor, although comparing this image with my other image, I believe the last one worked better in the forming of creepy.

My plan for this image was to make it look like someone is peering through the trees, although I don't think it worked as well as i had hoped. This is because the creepy atmosphere is built up in this photo. However I like the way the tone fades across her face. As I got someone to hold a light at an angle, you can see the highlight on the right side of her face and the shadow on the left, creating the transitional tone across her face. This is quite a good aspect on this image because it shows how she is only half a human- the other half is dead. As creating a creepy atmosphere I believe this factor is good, however I would prefer if I positioned my subject further into the trees.

What I intend to do next-
After completing this shoot, I hope next time I shoot creepy, my images will be positioned well but also the light is clear. Instead of adding the light through editing, I would like it to be from the raw image. I would also like to focus on a series of images that have a running theme through the editing- so they are edited in the same way.
